Your role:

This is so much more than your usual Chef role. Navy offer good working conditions and better pay than most civilian chef jobs.

In this exciting role, you'll work in a dynamic team environment to prepare quality food. It's fast paced and feel-good, with you being a key part in keeping morale of your shipmates at all levels.

If you're looking at starting a catering career or a job that serves well beyond the kitchen, then a role as a Chef in the Navy could be for you. Good nutrition is the key to a great performance, so the entire crew couldn't do their jobs without you.

Teamwork is an essential part of the role. You'll work in a tight-knit team where everyone has each other's backs. There are also many opportunities for career growth and travel, including the chance to diversify your cooking skills by taking additional courses in subjects like cheesemaking and baking.

Some of your jobs as a Chef will include:

  • Compiling food orders,
  • Managing the food budget,
  • Calculating the amount and type of food needed,
  • Operation of kitchen equipment,
  • Planning the menu,
  • Preparing, cooking and serving a variety of food.

Life in the Navy:

A career in the Navy is a challenging and highly rewarding working environment that comes with good work/life balance, competitive salary and skills for life. You can expect to feel a unique sense of accomplishment and pride from serving and protecting our country and helping to keep our vast coastlines safe.

Life in the Navy is anything but mundane. You'll enjoy varied lifestyles, rewarding careers, opportunities to travel, and excellent social and fitness facilities, free medical and dental; all in a dynamic and fulfilling working environment.

Don't worry, it's not all life at seaโ€”there's more to the Navy than ships, submarines and helicopters.

Some days, you might be exploring exciting new countries with your fellow crewmates. Other days, you could be stationed locally not too far from home.

Salary:

Be paid to train and learn the skills required to become a qualified Chef. Upon completion of your initial military and initial employment training, you'll enjoy a competitive starting salary package of up to: $78,108 including service and uniform allowances, as well as a Maritime Allowance (if applicable).

In addition to your salary, you will receive generous superannuation, housing subsidies and free medical and dental.

Apply Now:

For this role, you must be over 17 at time of enlistment, an Australian Citizen and have passed Year 10 English and Maths.
