I am confident that I am on the right path when I was given tasks to complete independently.

What's your job about?

My daily work in the EFS team is assisting my supervisor in everything she does. That includes Test Run for the platform, drafting a platform user guide, conducting data analysis using Pivot Table, among others. Besides, in the Sales Department, my job primarily involves assisting my supervisor in drafting the credit proposal, looking for the indicative valuation from the developer and also attending the meeting with my supervisor.

What's your background?

I grew up in Bintulu, Sarawak. The most important stage of my life is my secondary school period. That was the time I started exploring everything that I hadn’t tried before. In school, I was very active in Netball, representing my school and state in various competitions. I am a Christian, so I also attended every camp organized by the church, such as running girl camp, survivor camp, bible study camp, etc. When I grew up to 16 years old, I started organising camps or events. In my secondary school time, I had no burden to explore new things.

Later, I found out and got into CapBay through my friend. I will be interning with CapBay for 5 months–2 months with the EFS team and 3 months with the Sales team. These two departments are totally different, hence I had a very fruitful time learning different aspects of the company business. Both of the departments are quite interesting, and have taught many “realities” tasks from daily job scope.

What's the coolest thing about your job?

In the EFS team, the task that I enjoy the most is doing the test run and conducting the data analysis. I think the most interesting and challenging work in EFS is the test run work where it needs to apply the daily logic and technical skills. Because it is necessary to simulate various functions and avoid bugs that happen when deployed to clients. Meanwhile, during my time with the Sales team, I enjoyed following my supervisor to meetings with the client physically and virtually. This is because I could gain experience on the conversation skills from the clients and my supervisor. I am confident that I am on the right path when I was given tasks to complete independently. Though they were tough, I am proud of myself for keeping up with the steep learning curve in the teams.

What are the limitations of your job?

For me, my responsibilities in both teams are manageable. Luckily, I don’t have to work on weekends, since my supervisor also prefers to have a work-life balance. In my opinion, as an intern, it might be a bit difficult to catch up in the EFS team. As the seniors in the EFS team are super busy and have little time to train their intern, I must work independently. Most of the time, interns have to explore the field themselves. So I think this is a challenge to work with the EFS team. As for the Sales team, there can be very few jobs that an intern can do, because most of the tasks in the Sales team are directly client-facing, hence requiring a professional or full-time employee to be in charge.lastly, due to the convoluted pipeline of CapBay’s product, as an intern, it’s a bit difficult to learn the whole process of the disbursement.
