I have learned about the immense breadth and scale of KiwiRail and its contribution to New Zealand and how ‘small’ initiatives can have an extensive impact.

I think a vast array of people can do project management. I think what you need to thrive in it is communication and people skills. Those are the most important. Having other administration skills and computer skills is helpful. The technical skills you can always learn, but having the right attitude and soft skills is really important.

Having a depth of impact on how people move from one place to another is an extremely privileged position and I love working with my team to think about how wan we make someone’s day brighter and better.

To do my job, you will need to have the confidence to make decisions on the go, challenge the status quo and always have an approachable friendly attitude.
