The Walmart Story 

Walmart Inc. is an American multinational retail corporation that was founded in 1962 by Sam Walton. It was incorporated under Delaware General Corporation Law in 1969 and owns and operates Sam’s Club retail warehouses. The company has 10,585 stores and clubs in 24 countries as of April 30, 2022. These stores and clubs operate under 46 different names and have wholly owned operations in Canada, Chile, and South Africa. 

Walton opened the first Wal-Mart Discount store on July 2, 1962, at Walnut Street in Rogers, Arkansas. The design of the store was inspired by Ann & Hope and the name was inspired by FedMart, a chain of discount department stores. Within five years, the company gained immense popularity and expanded to 18 stores in Arkansas, reaching $9 million in sales. In 1968, it opened its first stores outside the boundaries of Arkansas in Missouri, Sikeston, and Claremore. 

Walmart U.S. is the largest division of the company, generating around 65% of total sales as recorded in fiscal 2019. It operates under three retail formats: Supercenters, Discount Stores, and Neighbourhood Markets. As of April 30, 2022, there are 4,735 Walmart stores in the U.S.

  • Interested candidates will need to apply to the concerned facilities. 
  • A personnel associate will sort the applications and will reach the selected candidates directly. 
  • The selected applicants will be called for onsite interviews. 
  • Candidates clearing the interviews will receive an offer of employment. 
  • Once everything is done, the selected candidates will be invited to the orientation - Welcome to Walmart. 

The selected candidates will also be asked to complete a few pre-employment checks before getting the final offer letter.

The Vice President of Walmart is the highest-paying job with a salary ranging from $1,06,271 to $2,90,538. At Walmart, employees working in customer service jobs and healthcare jobs tend to get the highest salaries.
